Medical tourism refers to the travel of people to another country for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment in that country. Traditionally, people would travel from less-developed countries to major medical centers in highly developed countries for medical treatment that was unavailable in their own communities; the recent trend is for people to travel from developed countries to third-world countries for medical treatments because of cost consideration, though the traditional pattern still continues. Although Medical Tourism has been in practice for a long time now, this market still remains largely untapped. One startup that understood this and decided to work towards this is MedHalt.
Emerging from the disparity of healthcare services globally, MedHalt provides a curated marketplace for medical tourism services. It bridges the gap between quality health care providers and patients around the globe. In a world where people need medical facilities simplified and with world class qualities, MedHalt assists people searching for quality treatment at affordable prices.
MedHalt, greases the wheel for medical tourists by providing an insight into the best suited packages and the essential details about medical procedures and treatments. MedHalt connects patients to the hospitals directly according to the available budget and preferences of the patients.
MedHalt was founded by Udit Verma in the year 2015 and is based out of Delhi. Udit Verma is the founder of MedHalt. They are currently a team of 8 people, led by Udit Verma, working hard to build MedHalt into a major player in the medical tourism sector. The team consists of people from varied backgrounds working as a unit.
The medical tourism market is largely fragmented and dominated by offline facilitators. MedHalt is filling in the gap for a consolidated online market place for an untapped booming industry. And there is no major player in the South and South East Asian market which is where MedHalt has its focus. Ever since its inception, MedHalt has been able to achieve a consistent growth rate of 75% in organic website visits with the number touching to about 44000 visits in the month of May, 2016. They have about 60 hospitals listed on their website from 15 countries all over the world.
Their current focus is on connecting patients with hospitals and providing them 24×7 online consultation. They plan to expand their reach by providing full fledged logistical support to the patients including concierge services and assistance with hotel and flight bookings, telemedicine services and wellness tourism services.
